    Hi Nicholas,

kind of off topic here – Your XCcountry trip looks awesome for this August, the upper headwaters of the Kern are amazing. Just as a head up though (sorry if this is something you already know), Milly’s foot pass is super loose class 3 stuff, my wife and I were there a few years ago and we chickened out. The hand holds are OK, but became loose with any lateral pressure, and if you fall near the top, you won’t stop tumbling for about 100 feet. Anyhow, so people should be comfortable on crappy, loose class 3 if you decide to take that route. It’s no foot pass for sure

  2. Extra batteries for headlamp no doubt… maybe extra bulb?

    • With LED headlamps, extra batteries are generally not needed, nor extra bulbs.

      • I use LED headlamps and if you’re out for a while, an extra set of batteries is useful. In winter, it’s essential.

This list would be MUCH more helpful and useful if you added links to the actual Backpack, Tent, Sleeping bag, etc… that you’re using.
Or at least added “Make & model”…?

    • Unless I gave reviews of the items, listing the make and model would be misleading at best, as some I like and some I just continue to use rather than spent my money on new equipment. Also, much of equipment is personal taste. The purpose of this list is to give an idea of what equipment one is likely to need. To decide what brand etc, one is better off using dedicated review sites and checking out the equipment oneself.

So if you just wrote that on the top above the list, there would be no misleading…
